The State of the Blog After 900,000 Views

I am happy to announce that Alternate History Weekly Update just surpassed 900,000 page views! Thanks so much everyone who has stuck along for almost 5 years. It is completely possible to get 1,000,000 views before the end of the year! Time now for our traditional "State of the Blog" post that I publish on these milestones. The last time we obtained another 100,000 view milestone was when we surpassed 800,000 page views on 12/30/15. Our best month in terms of page views was last January when we reached 27,751 views.

Next up, lets take a look at the current top posts of all time (the list on the left is only for the week):

1) What If Wednesday: The Roman Empire Never Falls by Matt Mitrovich.
2) 1814: How Washington Was Saved (Part 1) by William Weber
3) Map Monday: The Former United States in The Man in the High Castle by Matt Mitrovich.
4) One Way to Divide America: Ethnicity by Matt Mitrovich.
5) 6 Common Mistakes Every American Revolution Alternate History Makes by Matt Mitrovich.
6) Map Monday: A map where Europe never discovered America by liminalsoup by Matt Mitrovich.
7) Review: "Red Inferno 1945" by Robert Conroy by Sebastian Breit.
8) Preview: Before Watchmen by Sean Korsgaard.
9) Map Monday: Quantum Europe by Daniel Bensen by Daniel Bensen.
10) Book Review: A Kill in the Morning by Graeme Shimmin by Matt Mitrovich.

Not too many changes at the top of the list, except for my What If Wednesday getting more views than Weber's article. With that out of the way, lets take a look at the changes in our social media followers:
  • We had 99 Blogger followers on 12/30/15, now we have 95
  • We had 633 Facebook fans on 12/30/15, now we have 718
  • We had 893 Twitter followers on 12/30/15, now we have 1043
  • We had 28 Reddit subscribers on 12/30/15, now we have 25
  • We had 62 Email Subscribers on 12/30/15, now we have 61
  • We have 4 Tumblr followers as of 5/12/16.
Sad to say I have seen an unusual drop with Blogger, Reddit and Email subscribers. Disappointing, but offset by not only continued growth in Facebook and Twitter, but also in our affiliated sites:
I hope to do a Q&A video for the channel when I reach 1000 viewers, so please subscribe if you haven't already and, while you are there, go check out the awesome channel art designed by Marc Pasquin. In the meantime, if you want to help me with that goal, please consider becoming one of my patrons on Patreon. I have a lot of rewards and milestone goals that I think you will enjoy.

Businesses looking to reach out to our intelligent and engaged community of readers should check out our Advertise page for more details.
