600,000 Page Views!

So when I was out of the country, Alternate History Weekly Update surpassed 600,000 total page views. The last time we reached such a milestone was when we surpassed 500,000 page views on 10/31/15, which was half a year ago. This is just amazing guys. You all helped give me one of the best month's of my life. Thank you.

As has become tradition, lets have our usual state of the blog post. First up, the top posts of all time (the list on the left is only for the week):

1) 1814: How Washington Was Saved (Part 1) by William Weber
2) One Way to Divide America: Ethnicity by Matt Mitrovich.
3) Review: "Red Inferno 1945" by Robert Conroy by Sebastian Breit.
4) What If Wednesday: The Roman Empire Never Falls by Matt Mitrovich.
5) Preview: Before Watchmen by Sean Korsgaard.
6) Book Review: A Kill in the Morning by Graeme Shimmin by Matt Mitrovich.
7) 6 Common Mistakes Every American Revolution Alternate History Makes by Matt Mitrovich.
8) Weekly Update #82 by Matt Mitrovich.
9) Alternate History and Superheroes by Ben Ronning.
10) Steampunk & the Revival of Obsolete Science in Before the Chase: A Short Anthology by Dara Fogel.

Next up, lets move on to the changes in our social network followers:
The Update still averages more than 22k views a month and I hope to increase that number in the months to come. Plus I have a new YouTube channel that I am going to be pouring some of my passion into. Those interested in that should check out my trailer. Businesses looking to reach out to an intelligent and engaged community of fans should check out our Advertise page for more details. You can also support The Update by clicking through our Amazon banner at the top right corner when you go to purchase your next alternate history book, comic, game or whatever tickles your fancy.

Of course I can't keep bringing you great alternate history content all by myself. I rely on the talented volunteer contributors and guest bloggers who regularly send me submissions. If you are interested, I encourage you to contact me at ahwupdate at gmail dot com. All contributors will be given the opportunity to promote their current projects. Check out our Submissions page for details.

Thank you once again for being a fan of The Update. I am back to my regular schedule on Monday and I will have a recap on the Sideways in Time Conference.

200,000 Page Views!

Last night, sometime after 5, The Update surpassed 200,000 page views! This momentous occasion happened just weeks before our 2 year anniversary, for which I am eternally grateful. The last time we reached such a milestone was when we surpassed 150,000 page views on 2/8/13.  Thanks to all of our contributors and fans who made this possible.

First up, let us look at the top posts of all time (the list on the left is only for the week):

1) Review: "Red Inferno 1945" by Robert Conroy by Sebastian Breit.

2) Preview: Before Watchmen by Sean Korsgaard.

3) Alternate History and Superheroes by Ben Ronning.

4) How to Write and Publish a Novel in Eight Easy Steps by Chris Nuttall.

5) Showcase: Images of 1984 - Stories from Oceania by Sean Korsgaard.

6) Review: Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2 by Chris Nuttall.

7) A first look at NBC's Revolution by Sebastian Breit.

8) January 2013: The Month of No Americans by Matt Mitrovich.

9) Civilization II: Eternal War by Matt Mitrovich.

10) Review: Spike's Alternate History by Matt Mitrovich.

Seb keeps the top spot, but as usual I have the most article on the list (although not by much this time). Alright lets move on to the state of our social networking presence:
  • We had 63 Google followers on 2/8/13, now we have 68 (Goal: 100 by 6/13, 68% complete).
  • We had 207 Facebook fans on 2/8/13, now we have 245 (Goal: 300 by 6/13, 84% complete).
  • We had 319 Twitter followers on 2/8/13, now we have 389 (Goal 300 by 6/13, 130% complete)
  • We have 14 Networked Blogs followers on 2/8/13, now we have 14 (Goal: 15 by 6/13, 93% complete).
  • We have 6 Reddit subscribers on 2/8/13, now we have 7 (Goal: 25 by 6/13, 28% complete)
Thank you to our Twitter fans for continuing to be awesome as we blow past the old goal. Hopefully we can still break the rest of our goals before June as well. Please, if you use either service, follow us and help us reach our goal before our two year anniversary. Of course you probably noticed the stats for the group not up there. That is because I disbanded the group because I found it redundant since we have a page. I still might try sometime in the future setting up a forum for our fans.

I am proud to say the Update averages more than 10k views a month and we continue to grow.  Those interested in advertising with us should check out our Advertise page for more details. If our readers like one of our advertisements I highly recommend that you click on it and help support Weekly Update.  Please check out our Amazon page as well to purchase a subscription (first 14 day free) for your Kindle (or Kindle app) or write a review (one of these days I will update the cover page with a new screenshot). All proceeds go to help pay contributors who submit fiction, non-fiction and reviews to The Update.

If you would like to contribute, I encourage you to contact me at ahwupdate at gmail dot com.  The Update would not have grown to become what it is today without the help of the contributors who routinely submit articles to be enjoyed by you, the reader.  All contributors will be given the opportunity to promote their current projects, plus a link to their website(s) in the "Our Favorites" section on the left had side of the blog. Check out our Submissions page and the rules for the DBWI writing contest.

Thank you once again for being a fan of The Update and I hope that we can continue to provide top quality content for years to come.

120,000 Page Views!

Today at 12:37 PM CST, Alternate History Weekly Update reached 120,000 page views! What a great early Xmas present. The last time we reached such a milestone was when we surpassed 100,000 page views on 10/24/12.  Thanks to all of our contributors and fans who made this possible. I have decided that after reaching this goal (and struggling to find a good picture to commemorate it) I will not do this celebratory post again until we reach 150,000 page views.

First up, let us look at the top posts of all time (the list on the left is only for the month):

1) Preview: Before Watchmen by Sean Korsgaard.

2) Review: "Red Inferno 1945" by Robert Conroy by Sebastian Breit.

3) Showcase: Images of 1984 - Stories from Oceania by Sean Korsgaard.

4) A first look at NBC's Revolution by Sebastian Breit.

5) Civilization II: Eternal War by Matt Mitrovich.

6) Review: Spike's Alternate History by Matt Mitrovich.

7) One Way to Divide America: Ethnicity by Matt Mitrovich.

8) Review: The Beast of the Bosporus by Matthew Quinn by Matt Mitrovich.

9) Showcase: A Giant Sucking Sound by Sean Korsgaard.

10) 2012 AH.com Turtledove Awards by Sean Korsgaard.

As usual Sean takes the top spot, but I tied with him for most articles in the top ten, with Seb having a respectable two in the list. Alright lets move on to the state of our social networking presence:
  • We had 58 Google followers on 10/24/12, now we have 60 (Goal: 100 by 6/13, 60% complete).
  • We had 172 Facebook fans on  10/24/12, now we have 185 (Goal: 300 by 6/13, 62% complete).
  • We had 67 members in our Facebook group on 10/24/12, now we have 74 (Goal: 150 by 6/13, 49% complete).
  • We had 233 Twitter followers on 10/24/12, now we have 273 (Goal 300 by 6/13, 90% complete)
  • We have 12 Networked Blogs followers on 10/24/12, now we have 13 (Goal: 15 by 6/13, 91% complete).
  • We have 5 Reddit subscribers on 10/24/12 (Goal: 25 by 6/13, 20% complete)
We are so close to reaching both our Twitter and Networked Blogs goal. Please, if you use either service, follow us and help us reach our goal before our two year anniversary. Also, members of our Facebook group, don't forget you can invite your friends to the group. If you know someone out there who likes alternate history, introduce them to the Update.

I am proud to say the Update averages more than 10k views a month, and we continue to grow.  Those interested in advertising with us should check out our Advertise page for more details. If our readers like one of our advertisements I highly recommend that you click on it and help support Weekly Update.  Please check out our Amazon page as well to purchase a subscription for your Kindle (or Kindle app) or write a review (Hmm...I really need to update that page). All proceeds go to help fund our upcoming podcast and other projects.

If you would like to contribute, I encourage you to contact me at ahwupdate at gmail dot com.  Weekly Update would not have grown to become what it is today without the help of the contributors who routinely submit articles to be enjoyed by you, the reader.  All contributors will be given the opportunity to promote their current projects, plus a link to their website(s) in the "Our Favorites" section on the left had side of the blog. I also hope to one day pay the contributors who write for Weekly Update if we can get a few advertisers. If you are struggling for ideas, check out the announcement for our upcoming writing contest in January.

Thank you once again for being a fan of Weekly Update and I hope that we can continue to provide top quality content for years to come.

Breaking News: 50,000 Page Views!

Today I am proud to announce that in less than one year, Alternate History Weekly Update has managed to break 50,000 page views. This momentous accomplishment, which I have been hoping would happen before the blog's first birthday, happened earlier today.  I would like to thank our contributors, fans and the authors who write alternate history for helping us grow. The last time the blog reached such a milestone was on 4/26/12 when I announced the 40,000th page view. Let us see how the blog has progressed since then.

Now usually in these posts I include the world map of our readers, but I do not have access to it at the moment.  Instead we will go right into the review of our social networking presence:
  • We had 42 Google followers on 4/26/12, now we have 45 (Goal: 100 by 6/12).
  • We had 107 Facebook fans on  4/26/12, now we have 127 (Goal: 300 by 6/12).
  • We have 57 members of our Facebook group as of today.
  • We had 78 Twitter followers on 4/26/12, now we have 110.
Considering how fast this blog is growing, advertisers could profit from forming a partnership with Weekly Update.  Those interested should check out our Sponsors page for more details. If our readers like one of our advertisements I highly recommend that you check it out and help support Weekly Update.  Also feel free to check out our Amazon page to purchase a subscription for your Kindle (or Kindle app). All proceeds go to help fund our upcoming podcast and a possible move to Wordpress

If you have a review or an article about alternate history that you want to share with us, I encourage you to contact me at ahwupdate at gmail dot com.  Weekly Update would not have grown to become what it is today without the help of the contributors who routinely submit articles to be enjoyed by you, the reader.

Thank you once again for being a fan of Weekly Update and I hope that we can continue to provide top quality content for years to come.
