Flag Friday: New England (Guest Post)

Editor's Note: I have two Flag Fridays today. The first is from Sam McDonald:
This is the flag of New England from a world in which the Embargo Act was never repealed and New England declared independence in 1812.  Eventually, New England went on to join the European Union, which in this world had a considerably broader definition of "European" given that they also admitted Morocco.  The flag is a combination of the European Union flag with a smaller version of the original New England flag in the upper left hand corner.  This is all in keeping with New England's motto: "Remember the past, Prepare for the Future and Live for Today."

Sam McDonald is a college student from Shreveport, LA.  When not involved with his studies he can be found making and posting maps across the web and working on short stories that he hopes to have published in magazines such as Lightspeed, Strange Horizons, and the Escape Artists Podcasts.

  1. I have a request for a flag if you would. I love your work and I think you might be able to pull this one off.
I am working on an alternate history of the American Civil War where New England secedes instead of the Southern States. The abolitionist run New England States of New York, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania withdraw from the Union after the Election of 1860 goes against them and forms their own country: The Republic of Free American States.

My idea is for a red flag with a white St. George's Cross and eight five-pointed stars set in a circle in the upper right "union" of the flag in blue.
Or if you have a better suggestion as to what a nation run by abolitionists might make as a banner of a sovereign American nation that would appeal to someone born in New England, I'd love to see what you can come up with.

    Thank you.

    1. Hey, I've made a flag roughly matching those specifications and I can get it to you whenever you want. You can reach me at samthescienceman at gmail dot com. Or if your on alternatehistory do com I can always send the flag to the flag gallery and you can copy from there. I would send it here for another Flag Friday, but if it's all the same to you I'd kind of want to avoid becoming the New England guy who isn't actually from New England.

Hope you like what I have made

  2. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest. There are many engineering college in India but top colleges of uptu. College is a training ground that teaches students how to reach beyond college. If a college does its job properly, then graduates gain the tools to help them to manifest their ideas into reality. As well as in management colleges some private mba colleges in delhi ncr available.
