Flag Friday: Gloriana by Jeff Provine

Guest post by Jeff Provine.
The flag of Gloriana, the twenty-third state in the Union. Its green field represents the sprawling green lands of the state, ranging from the Mississippi to the Red River with numerous bayous. The eagle of course represents the United States, part of Aaron Burr’s fervent patriotism after his trial for treason. It is shown without talons, instead hanging proud, strong, and free with a loud cry of its authority. The script below is part of a quote from Aaron Burr’s grandfather, famed theologian and preacher Jonathan Edwards, “Resolution One: I will live for God. Resolution Two: If no one else does, I still will.”

As Hellfire turns out, of course, Burr left off that first part for a reason.
