The Art of Steampunk #10

To celebrate the 10th post of this series, we take a look back at our shared alternate history by showcasing artifacts from the Great Mutiny of 1887.

More than a century ago, rebels from across the United Empire of Terra rose up and brought down that oppressive institution establishing the New Republic, which still stands today as a beacon of hope, liberty and freedom. Let us not forget, however, that sacrifices of the brave men and women who fought against the scientific horrors unleashed by the Emperor.
The face mask of Lord Darth of Vader, feared hatchet-man of the Emperor.
Torch swords like the one seen above were carried by many officers in the rebel armies.
A decommissioned steam dragon, once the terror of the skies, now a dusty relic.
An example of rebel propaganda meant to encourage young men to rise up and fight for their freedom.
San Diego is one of the few places remaining where veterans of the Great Mutiny gather to remember their fallen comrades.

The Art of Steampunk #5

Let us take a look at steampunk's crazy cousin: clockpunk.  Check out these SF inspired clocks:

A grandfather clock to rule them all.
Give your home that refined Victorian look with this clock and accessories.
Just remember that an imagination can be a wonderful thing...
...until your creation becomes self-aware and tries to destroy humanity!

The Art of Steampunk #4

The Age of Steam is threatened by a mad scientist!

What kind of infernal device is he holding?
O No!  An evil automaton!
Don't worry fair citizen.  Queen Victoria the Amazon will save us...
and science-hero "The Spider" will assist!
The evil-doer has been overcome!  Now let us all eat cake.

The Art of Steampunk #2

Some of my favorite steampunk art from last week:

A nautical-themed keyboard, to go with...
...this steampunk desktop!
An awesome shirt...
...but these ladies dress a lot better!
A werewolf hunter...

...and a couch he can sit on when he is done hunting lycanthropes.  Sorry, not the best transition.

If you have steampunk art you would like to showcase on Weekly Update, email them to ahwupdate at gmail dot com.

The Art of Steampunk #1

Doctor Quincy E. Quartermain described steampunk as "the most popular word that has been tied to an aesthetic movement whose origins came from literature and books, but has become one that spans every form of art imaginable. It is fabricating your own alternate future of a past that never was but you wish could have been."

So with that in mind I am going to be showcasing this aesthetic movement by sharing with you pictures of some steampunk works of art that caught my eye over the week.  I hope you all enjoy it and maybe even be inspired by it.
