The Outlander series is not alternate history (sorry!), but has elements of timeslip/dual timelines. History proceeds as in OTL.<br /><br />Claire is a good heroine, courageous, occasionally wrong or impulsive, but capable; a lovely change to see such adventures through the female gaze. The time differences are handled very well. A good series to read and one I'd recommend on its own merits.
