They had suffered millions of civilian and military casualties, every city with more than 20,000 inhabitants lay in ruins, and the country had been occupied after years of grinding, gruesome combat. They were *done*, simply powered out.<br /><br />That's also why I very often can't take all the Muslim radicals and the Islamic street that parrots them seriously when they cry for all out war against the infidels. These guys come from societies with no public conscience for what the idea of "Total War" entails. The worst war cases some of them have in their living memories are some of their armies being bombed to rubbish on their borders by the Israelis. Or the US/Coalition troops they may have witnessed who almost painfully avoided collateral damage, often fighting with one arm tied behind their backs. That's just not a scenario you can transplant to 1945 and believe it to work out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
